Sheffield's only tropical audiophile party, Mizik Nou is the sister night for Apricot Ballroom. Translated from Haitian Creole it means 'our music', and is again intended to be an inclusive and welcoming party, but with a music policy that focuses more heavily on sounds from the continents of Asia, Africa, and South America. It's also the title of one of our favourite songs.
They are both powered by the same sound system, but these parties tend to run in larger spaces and with a bigger capacity, to allow us to invite guest selectors from around the world to join us. Previous parties have seen the likes of John Gómez, Cedric Woo, and Jan Schulte join us, with plenty more to come.
