Transmissions from space

Our TFS mix series started as a way for us to showcase mixes of some of the guest DJs we had when we first started, for those around the world who can’t make it to the parties to enjoy. Our first two were recorded live at the party on their respective nights, with only a minimum of edits made to smooth out volume levels and the like. Then a pandemic happened, and we opened the brief to include our mates, resident DJs, and other selectors we respect and enjoy. Since then we’ve had 30 editions, the majority from our residents and extended crew, but with some notable submissions from top drawer DJs around the world.

30’s quite a few to have asked for, and to be perfectly honest with all the jobs we have to do (it’s just two of us that do absolutely everything at the party) we thought a better way to maintain regularity and increase quality would be to open submissions to our community. There’ll be a bit of a brief, to ensure the mixes remain true to our ethos and party style, but other than that we value creativity and out-there’dness over everything.

So if you’re a long time friend, listener, confidant, or acquaintance, or even none of the above but feel like you’d have something of value to add to the series we do, then please follow the instructions below. We’d love to hear what you have to offer:

Brief: A mix of at least 60 minutes (no maximum length), showing the depth of your listening/collecting/production output. Interesting is the key here. All genres are welcome, but realistically a 60 minute speed garage mix isn’t gonna fly. Imagine you’re listening to each one of the tracks on the nicest speakers you’ve ever heard and using that to decide on it's inclusion. Interesting instrumentation, production styles that are out of this world, effects that make your head spin. Shit like that. And above it all we value love and community, so music that sits nicely within that ethos is likely to work. Vinyl is preferred, but we’re not purists on that, so give us what you’ve got. Format should be nothing below 320kbps MP3, with WAV being preferred. And if you are doing a vinyl mix, CLEAN YOUR FUCKIN RECORDS.

Send whatever you come up with to the link below, with a word doc/notepad doc containing a brief bio about you and your description of the mix and why you put it together, plus a nice picture of you for the mix cover (no “DJ” pics of you playing and looking moodily at the decks. We’re all bored of them and the algorithm hates them, so your mix won’t get heard).

P.S: Submission is not a guarantee of inclusion on the series, but we promise we will listen to every single one that gets sent in, and if it fits it’ll hit the series xxx
